Sasak Traditional Tour
The tribe of Sasak is a tribe that inhabits the island of Lombok and uses Sasak language. The word sasak comes from the word sésak, sèsek, or sèsak. Sèsec is done by inserting a thread one by one (sak-sak). Sasak people are famous for making clothes by way of weaving, it is doing by every woman and girls. Woven in Sasak language is a sek-sek. Then the thread is chopped or wrapped to be sassy and dense to form a fabric by hitting a weave. The uniqueness of the sound that you hear when you hit the fabric sounds like the sound of a “sak-sak” and it’s only done twice.

That’s the origin of the word Sasak which taken as the tribal name on the island of Lombok. According to Lisan’s source, saying that before Lombok’s earth was in the wilderness, the dictionary team of the Center for Construction and Language Development: Sasak meant bamboo or wooden bars assembled into one. While in the Book of the Netherlands (Decawanana): Sasak and Lombok explained that the West Lombok is called the Mirah Lombok and the East Lombok was called Sasak Adi.

The Sasaks who originally lived on the island of Lombok used Sasaks as their daily language. Sasak were very close to Samawa, Bima, and even Sulawesi languages, especially the Southeast-Sulawesi who speak Tolaki.
